This course provides staff with the skills to support carers in forming good quality relationships with infants with the aim of establishing secure attachments. It builds on and supports the booklet “understanding your baby” which is currently used as a universal provision by services in Leeds. Learning outcomes By the end of this course delegates will: •Be able to describe the importance of carers and infants developing a good quality attachment relationship. •Be aware of the different infant states, behaviours and cues and how to recognise them. •Have considered practical ideas to both support parents in understanding their babies as well as to enable parents and carers to make use of this in their relationships with infants.
Suitable for All workers engaged in delivering services to families with young babies especially in health, social care, and early year’s settings. This is a practical course with lots of opportunity for delegates to link ideas back to their work settings.
