Description This CPD accredited, interactive course is designed by one of the lead national experts on Female Sex Work in the UK. It provides an extensive overview for anyone working in services who might support female sex workers

It clarifies definitions and the law on Sex Work, the national context for Sex Workers, explores reasons for women’s involvement in Sex Work, issues faced by Female Sex Workers - both indoor and street (stigma and prejudice, violence, physical and mental health and substance abuse) and how these can be best addressed in a Sex Worker friendly service provision, based on best practice evidence and research.

What this course covers:
  • Definitions and terminology of sex work
  • Sex Worker stigma and the importance of a non- judgmental approach
  • The structure, extent of a range of sectors of sex work and the diversity
  • Overview and understanding main laws on sex work
  • Sex Work and substance misuse and impact on health status
  • Sex work, domestic abuse and exploitation
  • Good practice principles guidance & resources for working with sex workers
  • Violent and other crime against sex workers and barriers to reporting
  • Safety information & resources for sex workers (and Nat. Ugly Mugs)
  • Identifying actions to make services more appropriate and accessible for sex workers

The course is CPD certified.
