This course helps participants develop understanding, confidence and skills in supporting people who have an eating disorder.
It will compare and contrast the three most common eating disorders; Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder (compulsive overeating).
This course will enable participants to have a deeper understanding of how eating disorders function, and help identify those who may be at risk. The knowledge gained will enhance participants’ understanding and enable them to offer more appropriate support.

|Learning outcomes||At the end of the course participants will be able to: • Describe the signs, symptoms and prevalence of the common eating disorders. • Outline the risk factors for eating disorders. • Describe the impact of eating disorders on individuals and their carers / families. • List the approaches and helping strategies that can facilitate recovery. • Identify appropriate services in their area to which referrals can be made|
|Suitable for||This half-day course is aimed at staff who come into contact with those at risk of, or who are experiencing an eating disorder.|
