If you are setting up QuickBooks, this course will give you all the basic information to keep your finances in order. The day will cover how to keep track of all the income and expenditure coming in and out of your organisation. The group will work through an 'example organisation' to give you hands on experience of using the accounting package. An Introduction to Charity Accounting and Independent Examination

This 3 hour workshop will use a free template and give you the confidence to set up a bookkeeping system on a spreadsheet. Laptops and materials are provided. Your WYCAS tutor will lead the session working through a practical exercise, so that you will be able to set up and use a spreadsheet recording method for your organisation. Learning outcomes This course will show you the structure of the linked spreadsheet, help you set up a fictional organisation, with categories of income and spend, restricted funds and bank and cash accounts. Course content: UC aims to encourage claimants into full time work. This course looks at what work seeking people have to do to keep their UC, what happens if they cannot seek work - for example if they have ill health - and at how working affects their UC. The day examines the UC work 'conditionality' rules to enable your clients to better manage their claim and at the impacts of your client failing to do what they are supposed to do. If you help people on UC this course will help you by looking at simple, practical steps that you can do to help them manage their claim.  

Methods: A mixture of tutor input, discussion among participants and practical exercises. A course pack will be given to each participant.

The day covers the main presence and residence conditions, Public Funds restrictions and the special rules for EU nationals - right to reside and EU co-ordination rules. The course concentrates on means tested benefits and covers the restrictions for EU work seekers.
