The Course aims to introduce individuals to practical conservation work, looking at some theory and some common practical skills.

Individuals will learn about safe use of hand tools, working safely within a group, why organisations do different sorts of practical projects, and how they can get involved in doing more, either with TCV or other groups in Leeds.

The course will take place at TCV Hollybush as well as various green sites in the local Leeds area.

Description

This is a short, interactive course to learn more about carbon monoxide poisoning. In particular, the signs and symptoms that can indicate low level poisoning and what, as an organisation, should be done to both protect the vulnerable person but also the worker or volunteer.

Attendees will receive materials to help cascade the messages across their organisation as well as a FREE Carbon Monoxide detector.

Local Emergency First Aid Course held close to the city centre on a monthly basis.

Easy to learn the skills that can make a real difference in the event of an emergency and could even save a life!

Let instructor Phil teach you the skills to check breathing, assess injuries, deal with choking and carry out CPR plus much more.

The course is FREE to unemployed members of the community and subsidised (£22) for individuals living withing Leeds city centre.

By the conclusion of the day candidates are awarded a certificate which is valid for three years and recognised by the HSE.

Food Hygiene

This course covers the requirements for people handling food. If you are in a non-commercial environment and preparing food in an informal group setting, such as lunch clubs, an in-house certificate is sufficient evidence of learning.

If you are working in a more formal setting, or if you require a full Level 2 Food Safety certificate, then you will be able to take the test at the end of this session at an additional cost of £15.

You must bring photo ID if you want certification.
