How to get involved with my community

You could Volunteer

Have you ever thought about becoming a volunteer before? It can be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience.

If you’re a busy person it can be something that you regularly make time for, or if you find yourself with time on your hands, it can be a great way to spend it.

You could be part of Leeds Voices

Leeds Voices is a group that helps the people of Leeds have their say about current and proposed public and health services in the City.

You can get involved by becoming a Leeds Health Ambassador – this is a volunteer role where you would be supporting consultations and engagements to find out what the people of Leeds think of public and health services.

You can find more information about Leeds Voices in the ‘Networks & Forums’ part of the website.

You could attend an event

There’s always events taking place in and around Leeds that are put on by voluntary groups who would welcome your attendance or involvement.

Events can be a great place to meet people and get to know more about the thriving third sector in Leeds. At the moment, because of coronavirus, many face to face events have been cancelled or postponed, but many have been rearranged to take place online – so why not join one of these?

You can find events listings in the ‘What’s happening’ part of the website.

You could be a good neighbour

The coronavirus outbreak prompted many people think about helping their neighbours more than they normally might.

Being a good neighbour to people on your street, and beyond, can help you feel more involved with and connected to the wider community.

The ‘Being a Good Neighbour’ pack has advice on how you can help people in a safe and considerate way.
