Volunteer and safeguarding coordinator

Pudsey Community Project

We are a community charity working to serve our local area. Pudsey Community
Project exists to transform Pudsey and its surrounding areas (an area of 20,000
households) with and for the local community, especially for those who are most
vulnerable and disadvantaged. That looks like emergency food aid through
Pudsey Foodbank; operating Pudsey Community Pantry (110 households
accessing ongoing food support each week in five openings across three
locations); our citywide clothes scheme Reduce Reuse Kids’ Clothes (providing
preloved children’s clothes to several thousand children a year); a weekly older
people’s lunch club (numbers 30+ a week); seven weekly sessions of youth
provision; bereavement support; a monthly Repair Café and wider community
development. We work from our dedicated base on Fartown in Pudsey.

We are looking for a responsible person to coordinate, champion and provide
support for our teams of volunteers, coordinating the Project’s Safeguarding and
other administration as needed. They will recruit, support and communicate with
our varied team of volunteers, connect them with appropriate training and
administer our project’s Safeguarding as well as other administrative pieces of
work as required. We want both safeguarding and fantastic volunteer
experiences to be at the heart of all we do.
The volunteer coordinator would be based at Pudsey Community Project and
would normally work hours across Monday to Friday, including some evenings or
Saturdays as needed. IT competence including Word, Excel and Facebook is
essential, and experience working in a community or charity setting is desirable.

Salary is £28140 per annum, pro rata.
