Who we are

Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) is an infrastructure organisation – what used to be known as a ‘council for voluntary service’.

 

Our work enables voluntary and community groups and organisations to do their work well and supports people to volunteer.

 

We want communities across the city to thrive and we work with volunteers, groups and organisations to make this happen.

Doing Good Leeds

Doing Good Leeds is the website for the third sector in Leeds. The website’s purpose is to help third sector organisations access the best information, advice and support for running their organisation. It also aims to inform and involve people in the big issues affecting the third sector in Leeds.

Get help and advice about running a charity or voluntary group – whether you’re a volunteer, a trustee or committee member, or a paid member of staff. The areas of support covered are wide ranging, with topics on starting and managing third sector groups of all kinds, monitoring, finance, funding and much more.

Volunteer Centre Leeds

Volunteer Centre Leeds is a hub with a location in Leeds which supports people into volunteering. It helps individuals find suitable opportunities and provides advice and support to organisations to set up and manage a volunteering programme.

Giving Time

Giving Time works in partnership with the AMICABLE project, supporting people with lived experience of the Criminal Justice System into volunteering. The project is currently delivered in HMP Lindholme, HMP Low Newton and HMP Styal.

Volunteer Managers Network

The Volunteer Managers Network provides the perfect opportunity for Volunteer Managers to connect and share good practice. The group is passionate about volunteering in Leeds and regularly meets to share ideas and come up with ways to make volunteering even better – discussing issues such as inclusivity and accessibility.

Employer Supported Volunteering

Employee Supported Volunteering, also known as ESV is a scheme which enables people to volunteer with support from their employer. This may be in the form of time off for individual volunteering, team challenge events or an ongoing arrangement with a community partner.

Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) is a charitable company managed by a Board of Trustees. Registered charity number 225863 and company limited by guarantee in England and Wales number 555150.
