Gambling Harms Prevention Levy Funding (grants of £5,000 to £3million to not-for-profits)

Added: 05/01/2026

Voluntary Action Leeds

The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) has announced the new Gambling Harms Prevention Levy funding for voluntary sector organisations in England to fund VCSE organisations from April 2026 once Gamble Aware closes. Expressions of Interest are now open with a deadline of 9 January 2026. The full application window will open on 12 January, followed by a one-month clarification period. Completing the EOIs are not an essential part of the application process but you are encouraged to submit one if you wish to apply.

To support organisations considering delivery in Leeds, Leeds City Council (Financial Inclusion, Public Health and Licensing Teams) will host a short online session outlining the Leeds approach to gambling-related harms. This overview aims to help potential applicants align their proposals with the existing local approach. Please note that we currently have limited information about the fund and application process itself so the session will not cover this.

Session details:

  • Date: Tuesday 13th January
  • Time: 9:00–10:00am
  • Platform: Microsoft Teams

To book a place: Email financial.inclusion@leeds.gov.uk by midday on Monday 12th January. A Teams invitation will then be sent. Please note that this will be in the new year due to leave. It is advised that you hold this time in your calendar in the meantime.

The presentation will be recorded and available afterwards for those unable to attend. There will be an opportunity for questions during the session, which will not be recorded. There will be a limited amount of time so any questions sent in advance will be prioritised. Please send these to financial.inclusion@leeds.gov.uk by midday on Monday 12th January. Please direct any queries about the funding itself to OHID via the details shared on the funding page.

Finally, we recognise this is a sensitive time for many organisations, given the significant changes to the gambling harms funding landscape and tight deadlines. We ask all participants to approach the session respectfully and acknowledge that this funding offers an opportunity to move away from previous industry-linked funding models”.

You can also meet Grace Imrie from Leeds City Council’s Financial Inclusion Team who can tell you more at the Leeds Funding Support Network meeting on Tuesday 6th January 2026, 1pm-2.15pm on zoom.  For the link contact Kaye.wilson@val.org.uk
