Angels of Freedom has launched a new weekly Open Door session at its recently established Angels Hub, creating a welcoming space for people to connect, build friendships and find out more about the organisation’s activities and opportunities.

The first session took place this week at Woodhouse Community Centre, welcoming four visitors, including someone attending Angels of Freedom for the very first time.

Open Door has been developed to provide a relaxed and inclusive environment where people can spend time together, meet new people and learn more about the wide range of activities, support and volunteering opportunities available through the organisation.

Rob Wilson, Founder and Director of Angels of Freedom, said:

“Some of the most important community work doesn’t happen during organised activities or events. It starts with a conversation over a brew, a new friendship, and someone realising they’re not alone. Open Door is about creating that space for connection, belonging and community.”

The weekly sessions form part of Angels of Freedom’s continued commitment to tackling isolation, improving wellbeing and creating opportunities for people to connect with others in a safe and welcoming environment.

Open Door takes place at the Angels Hub in Woodhouse Community Centre, alternating weekly between Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11.00am until 4.30pm. The next session will be held on Wednesday, 7 October, from 11.00am until 4.30pm.

Visitors attending around lunchtime for Wednesday sessions are also encouraged to support the SEVA Pay As You Can Café, which operates from Woodhouse Community Centre and offers affordable meals while bringing local people together.

Whether attending for the first time or returning to reconnect with friends, everyone can expect a warm welcome at Open Door.
