Registered charities taking part in the pilot of an innovative Leeds-based fundraising service have been seeing the benefits of the service.
Givto enables people to give to a different charity each month with one simple Direct Debit. Every month three charities are featured and donors select which one they would like their donation to go to. It’s like an online version of the supermarket charity token scheme.
Since launching in August the service has received positive feedback from members and from charities. Charities have found it quick and easy to register, have attracted new donors, and been surprised at how much they have raised.
Jenny Sellers, Community Fundraising Manager at Leeds Weekend Care Association said, “We decided to give Givto a go after being invited to take part in the Yorkshire pilot and were told we’d be a featured charity within three months of registering. In one month we raised nearly £200 and gained engagement from new supporters – a great result!”
Sonny Garewal, Manager at Belle Isle Senior Action said “It doesn’t take long to register with Givto and it’s definitely worth doing as it’s an easy way to raise money, and they also claim the Gift Aid.”

Alex Ellis-White, founder and CEO of Better Giving Partnership, the charity that developed and runs Givto said “We’re run entirely by volunteers who developed the Givto service during the first coronavirus lockdown. We’re delighted that the service is getting such positive feedback from members and charities, and that it’s been helpful at such a difficult time for charity fundraising.”
The team is looking for charities of all sizes to join the pilot and help to shape the service before it is rolled out further.
A short film that explains how Givto works is available at www.givto.org, along with a registration form for charities.
