Voluntary Action Leeds
The country’s first ever national Thank You Day is happening on Sunday 4 July!
The idea of Thank You Day came from a grassroots campaign to hold the country’s biggest ever thank you party in our local communities as a way of thanking each other and of building on the community spirit that so many felt during lock down.
In Leeds, this sense of togetherness and working in partnership has being at the heart of organisations’ work throughout the pandemic, and VAL would like to say a big thank you to the Third Sector for hanging in there together!
The Third Sector has proven itself to be responsive, pro-active, resilient, flexible and adaptable!
Thank you!
Here at Voluntary Action Leeds, we love to shout about the great work of volunteers, and never more so than the volunteers that supported the city throughout Covid-19 in the Community Care Volunteering Programme. Thousands of volunteers were deployed to support vulnerable households, and each and every volunteer was invaluable to the programme, making a a huge difference to the lives of everyone they helped.
Thank you!
You can read more about the contribution volunteers made in Leeds in this Yorkshire Evening Post story published in March 2021:
Leeds Covid volunteers made ‘absolutely huge’ contribution to city’s pandemic response
You can also check out the video below, which we first shared at Virtu-VAL back in Sept 2020, highlighting the exceptional dedication of all the Hubs and volunteers throughout the pandemic. It really shines a light on everyone’s hard work and the impact that volunteering has on peoples lives — it makes for an emotional watch!
