Leeds Community Champions

We are looking for a group of Volunteer Community Champions to help share key health messages and information about local vaccine clinics.
Starting on Monday 31st January and through February into March we will be working with Public Health and the NHS supporting a huge campaign to get as many of our citizens of Leeds as possible vaccinated against Covid-19.
Working in pairs you will promote the vaccine clinics in the low uptake areas by engaging with the local community, answering any questions they may have regarding the vaccine and directing them to where and when the clinics will be.
Exact details are currently being finalised but what we know at the moment is the following:
These are the areas we would like to cover: Little London, Burmantofts, Harehills, Chapel Allerton South, Chapeltown, Holbeck, Richmond Hill, Gipton, Beeston, East End Park.
It will be broken down into two shifts:
Morning: 9:30am until 1pm
Afternoon: 1pm until 4pm
If you can do the full day lunch will be provided (or reimbursed) depending on our location and travel expenses will be reimbursed (taxi costs excluded).
This is a flexible, informal role where volunteers are involved in specific events and are responsive to rapid/urgent deployment needs to support local demand. Please note that the need for volunteers can be at short notice.
There is a wide range of support available linked to this opportunity, and we can also offer you:
- Access to the training you need to have effective conversations
- Regular question and answer sessions with Public Health and Leeds CCG on health messages
- Sessions with other Community Champions to share experiences and learning
CAN YOU HELP?
We don’t need you to commit to specific dates yet but please let us know that you might be interested by registering here or emailing ronnie.miley@val.org.uk
