A new fund is set to launch, offering grants for community groups in Leeds to build advocacy work. The Advocacy Development Fund from the Leeds Advocacy Network, led by The Advonet Group, will open later this spring.
The fund has an initial pot of money worth £25,000. It intends to provide grants to community groups of between £500 and £10,000. Grants awarded could help successful applicants to help make sure people from marginalised communities in the city have their voices heard.
Its aim is to help make sure advocacy is available to communities in Leeds who have found it difficult to access. By providing grants to aid this work, more people in the city should be able to be heard when trying to get their rights upheld.
Free event
To help decide what the fund should do, an event will take place on Tuesday 24th May from 9:30am to 1pm. It will be at the St George’s Conference Centre, 60 Great George Street, Leeds LS1 3DL.
