Added: 12/09/2022
Voluntary Action Leeds
Voluntary Action Leeds is incredibly saddened by the news of the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Her commitment to the third sector, through her patronages of charities in the UK and around the world, will be one of the many things of her life and reign for which she will be remembered.
The country has now entered a period of National Mourning, which may be an extremely sad or uncertain time for both individuals and organisations. Whilst we continue to await confirmation of further details over the coming days, we have collated some information from Leeds City Council and NCVO which may be useful to charities in Leeds.
- NCVO has published an article on their website, What charities need to know during this period of mourning , and they are also hosting two webinars on Tuesday 13 September, and Wednesday 14 September, providing advice and guidance on the period of mourning and considerations for charities and volunteering.
- Leeds City Council’s newsroom is where you can find the most up to date information of events taking place in Leeds.
- The online Book of Condolence for residents in Leeds can be signed here. Physical Books of Condolence are available in the Civic Hall every day between 8am – 6pm, accessed via the Portland Crescent entrance.
- The National Mourning Guidance has now been published, this includes official, national guidance for the public and businesses on the period of National Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Leeds City Council has advised they will continue to follow national guidance, respecting that mourning is personal and that their services to the public continue to be important during this difficult time.
