ESV in Autumn

Autumn has been a busy time for ESV across Leeds
The seasons are changing, and as the mornings seem colder and earlier, a difference to the daily routine is just what’s needed!
This Autumn Voluntary Action Leeds has been busy coordinating volunteering days across Leeds through it’s Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) Project, allowing businesses to get their staff out and break routine whilst helping the local community and organisations in need.
Autumn in Armley: better than your view from the office?
The ESV team works with organisations and businesses across Leeds to coordinate mutually beneficial volunteering opportunities for staff members. There are a variety of activities that offer real value to both host organisations and the local community.
Autumn has been jam packed so far.
In October, ASDA teams were out across Yorkshire at Armley Park, Gotts Park, FareShare, Lotherton Hall, St. Gemma’s, Parklands Primary School, St. Vincent’s and West Leeds Activity Centre. They have been doing a variety of activities both indoor and outdoor activities, from digging and pruning, to painting and sorting, to distributing food! November will see teams out at more and more days in these places, as well as at Wigton Moor and Oxfam. And that’s before the spirit of Christmas and goodwill hits in December!
Into the woods they go…
The brisk weather isn’t for everyone so it’s a good job VAL’s ESV team can coordinate inside volunteering activities, to meet the individual needs of different groups.

Here’s what some of our corporate volunteers have recently said about their experience:
“I really enjoyed being outside all day and having the freedom to crack on with tasks. Loved spending time with colleagues in a different environment and found the experience to be really rewarding”
“It was nice to get out of the office and to work with colleagues who ordinarily, we maybe wouldn’t get to work with. The work we did was very satisfying, and it was rewarding”
“I just enjoyed being outside and doing something different to the day to day. It was also lovely to meet such amazing staff and volunteers at the charity, doing such valuable work for the community”
If you would like to get staff from your organisation out volunteering, or if you have a project where you could use a team of volunteers, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you! esv@val.org.uk 0113 2977920 @esvleeds_val.
