At WiSE’s Welcome Cafe, a touching story of friendship is told by Melody Mills. Introducing Diane, Margaret, June, Janet (pictured), Penny, and Lesley – a group of remarkable women whose lives have come together in friendship thanks to the Welcome Cafe. 

This lovely group of ladies have been united in friendship thanks to our fab Welcome Cafe.

Diane, Margaret, June, and Janet (pictured) – plus Penny and Lesley – all got chatting on the first week of opening and have sat together ever since. The majority of them live alone- with their Tuesday meetups fast becoming the highlight of their weeks.  

Janet travels all the way from Harrogate and, illness aside, there’s a 100% attendance every week- plus occasional visits to WiSE music concerts.  

When we asked them what they like about the café they cited the lovely surroundings, warm environment, and good food – not to mention the amazing service of our volunteers.  

What amazing feedback and we’re so, so glad we’re able to bring people together in this way.
