Introducing Abigail Olaleye, new team member at Voluntary Action Leeds!
Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) 0recently welcomed new staff member, Abigail Olaleye, to the team. Abigail will be working as Project Support Worker and her main duties will be supporting the hub, delivering safeguarding activities and supporting the wider work of the team. In her own words, Abigail tells us a bit about herself and why she wanted to work at VAL:
“I will be working alongside Ann Crossland to support and deliver the Hub and Young Lives Leeds objectives, as directed by its members. I am a singer and songwriter and I run an African inspired food pop up in Leeds (pre-covid). I have volunteered for several charities and causes throughout the city; and have been lucky enough to meet different people from all walks of life.”
“This gave me an insight into the role policy plays in the everyday lives of citizens, I was also involved with the Active Citizens programme which allowed me to meet other community leaders from around the world and share best practice and ideas of a better society. All these experiences inspired me to study International Relations and Peace Studies. People are the heart of the Third sector, and I am enthused to be part of the work VAL plays in advocating and amplifying voices of the people. I hope to build on the fantastic work Hub representatives, Annette Morris and the team have already done, particularly focusing on increasing Hub engagement and promotion of the amazing work it does.”
