Did you know here at Voluntary Action Leeds we offer a comprehensive payroll service?
In fact, we have been providing payroll support since 1989, marking 30 years in the business, with all profits used to support our charity work at VAL.
History
Jo-Anne Welsh has been working for VAL since 1994 and reminisces about how much things have changed over the years:
“On commencing at VAL in 1994 there were 45 payroll clients with about 200 employees. There was one Manager and one assistant (me), and only one computer, which held the Payroll System. The accounts were manually produced by the Finance Department. No invoices were issued and statements were produced manually if requested.”
Resilience
The service has seen many challenges throughout the years, including the financial crash of 2007 and the introduction of real time reporting and auto enrolment. However, our expert team have continued to show resilience and have been able to adapt to changing workload pressures.
An expert service
Today, our Payroll team process payments for over 1200 individuals from 170 different organisations. They are abreast of all legislative changes and offer a solution to auto-enrolment (which can often be a minefield for some small businesses and charities). The department now produce all their own invoicing and statements and, I’m happy to say, all four members of staff have their own computer!
So here’s to 30 years in the business, and hopefully many more successful years to come.
