I Choose Joy- 15 October 2021
Finding peace amid unrest.
An immersive wellness event, centering culturally diverse communities.
Between protesting and demonstrating following the 2020 murder of George Floyd, working to counteract the recent increase anti-Asian violence, raising awareness about the ongoing racial and ethnic mortality disparities only getting wider amid the pandemic, and beyond, it’s clear that the fight for racial justice is neither easy nor near completion. Anti-racism work is often difficult and exhausting, further traumatising ethnic communities all over again.
On top of that, they are being asked to help explain and topple white supremacy across all sectors.
With all these urgent obligations and enraging events, joy/wellness has become a necessary practice in culturally diverse communities.
Safe spaces:
A space where you as a member of a global majority community can express and explore your experience in the world through this virtual session with a qualified therapist providing support. This space will help you reflect collectively with others on the effects of Covid-19, racism, inequality, and trauma and develop practical strategies to deal with the day to day impact of these. Using the Tree of Life model we will explore our strengths, our heritage, and our aspirations for the future. Come ready with a pen, paper, and an open mind.
Our collective wellbeing is the community’s business, and we must find ways of finding joy amid unrest.
