You’re warmly invited to the upcoming Community of Practice event:

Building a Culture of Care & Proactively Supporting Staff Wellbeing

🗓️ Thursday 26th June, 3.30-5.30pm

📍 Online via Microsoft Teams

🎟️ Book your place here »

This session brings together practitioners from across health, education, social care, and the third sector in Leeds who work with children, young people and families. Together, you’ll explore how to proactively support staff wellbeing — not just through policy, but through the small, everyday actions that build a culture of care.

💬 This is not about waiting for crisis or challenges — it’s about (but not limited to!):

  • Checking in during team meetings
  • Prioritising wellbeing in inductions or supervision
  • Using tools like Wellness Action Plans
  • Taking small, intentional steps to support colleagues

🔥 Campfire Stories

Hear from a range of voices across the sector, sharing real-life, tangible examples of what it looks like to put care into action:

Karen Kirby &  Bridge Rhode (Leeds City Council – Futures)

Chelcey Huxley (GIPSIL)

Maryam Ahmed (Leeds Community Healthcare Trust)

Eloise Bell & Leigh Staunton (Leeds Mind)

Rachel Reddington (St Lukes Cares)

Elli Lilburn-Quick (Leeds City Council – Therapeutic Social Work Team)

Mary Chilokoa (Leeds City Council – Educational Psychology)

✨  Trauma Stewardship with Penny Netherwood, Consultant Clinical Psychologist – Compassionate Leeds Programme Team

Join this session to hear about Trauma Stewardship, an everyday and intentional approach to protecting wellbeing and preventing overwhelm and the negative toll of exposure to difficult experiences within our work. Developed by Laura van Dernoot Lipsky and relevant to all who are working to help others, an overview of this model will give you some ideas for how to proactively care for yourself and how to encourage your colleagues do the same.

🤝 Connect | 📚 Develop | 🌍 Influence

As a member of this Community of Practice, you will:

  • Connect with others across the partnership, build relationships, and shape shared language around trauma-informed practice.
  • Develop practical understanding through stories, ideas, and reflection — and take away real ways to embed these in your work.
  • Influencechange at individual, organisational and system levels, as part of the Compassionate Leeds

Who is it for?

Anyone working with children, young people and families in Leeds, from any role or sector, who is passionate about strengthening a culture of care within their team or organisation.
