Applying for a Community Action Microgrant Workshop – 7 May 2026 at Tenants Hall, Middleton
Are you part of a small group in Leeds (perhaps you and a couple of friends or neighbours) with an idea to do something good in your community in Leeds?
Do you need a small pot of money (up to £500) to run your activity but have never applied for funding before and need some help? If you are already a small group with a constitution you can apply for up to £2,500.
Then this is the session for you. Come along and we will help you to think through what you want to do and what Leeds Community Foundation is looking for in the answers on the application form for their Community Action Microgrants funding programme.
The fund will support a wide range of activities and projects which are citizen-led which are aimed at:
- Promoting equality, equity and inclusion
- Directly supporting disadvantaged groups
- Working to reduce poverty
- Increasing connections between people at a neighbourhood level
Previously it has funded activities including roller-skating sessions, cooking classes and bus fares for refugees to practice English language skills with others. In essence – it’s about what activities your community wants.
The fund closes on 4 June 2026 at 12 noon and there is more information available here: Community Action Microgrants | Leeds Community Foundation
The session will be very informal. No previous experience of applying for funding is required and priority will be given to small groups with little or no experience of applying for grants. The session is free and will be run by Kaye Wilson, Voluntary Action Leeds Small Groups Worker, with input from Laurie Cummins from Leeds Community Foundation.
