Community Led Local Development Funding in East and South Leeds

Added: 15/10/2020

Energising East Leeds and South Leeds Together

Community Led Local Development (CLLD) in Leeds have open Calls in East and South Leeds. CLLD is funding to support those who are furthest from the labour market into employment or training and to help create new businesses and support existing ones.

The Calls will be made up of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund (ESF) monies. ERDF aims to create employment opportunities and develop entrepreneurs and ESF aims to move people closer to and into employment.

There are two CLLD programmes in Leeds: Energising East Leeds and South Leeds Together both with funding remaining.

All organisations within the third, public and private sectors can apply for funding. Organisations who bid will need to provide an equal amount of match funding for their project. The minimum application size is £50,000, however in exceptional circumstances the Local Action Group (LAG) might consider applications below this amount. This will only apply where the applicant can demonstrate that their proposal is innovative in nature, and where there is a business case showing why the application falls outside the normal monetary range.

Organisations will be able to submit an application anytime until Friday 11 December at 12 noon but are recommended to submit as soon as possible and organisations can now apply for project delivery to end by 31 December 2022.

The 2 Local Action Groups (LAGs) – one in each area – are partnerships made up of local residents, private, public and third sector representatives. They appraise applications and make the final decision on whether projects are approved.

The LAG’s, amongst other things, are looking for applications that:

  • Are innovative and do not duplicate existing provision
  • Meet the needs of local people
  • Support residents and businesses in the identified CLLD postcode areas

All details of the calls and supporting information can be found on

If you would like to know more or to request an application form, please contact the CLLD Programme & Funding Support Worker; Robbie Hawley – Email:; Tel: 07891 278182.

Applicant organisations are recommended to talk to their Programme & Funding Support Worker right from the beginning and keep talking to them review project ideas and ensure that proposals align with what the LAGs are looking to support and the rules and regulations for ESIF funding.
