Connect Together – Community grants of up to £5000 available for Leeds Inner South

Added: 04/04/2023

Voluntary Action Leeds

Connect Together, Inner South Communities, Communities Grant Fund

Grants of up to £5,000 have been made available for organisations from the voluntary, social enterprise, faith sector and community sectors. These grants provide assistance for those that support children and young people in Inner South Leeds for improving their health and wellbeing and to reduce health inequalities.

There are two grant pots, with one being for grants of up to £1,500, which prioritise smaller community groups and organisations with a turnover of below £250,000.  The grants are provided on a rolling programme and decisions on whether applicants are successful or not will be made within two weeks after submitting a request.

Helping to maintain longer term involvement with children’s social prescribing in the area is essential, so larger grants of between £1,500 and £5,000 are also available to provide help for those who deliver the vital work of increasing capacity for this within the local third sector. The deadline for initial applications will be 12pm on Friday 12 May 2023.  This is a rolling programme, so any following deadline dates after this will be announced dependent on remaining funds.

The Inner South Leeds community committee covers the areas of Beeston and Holbeck, Hunslet and Riverside, and Middleton Park, so any applicants should be located within these areas. All funding will be allocated to the successful organisations by the end of September 2023, however delivery can continue until the end of March 2024.

Examples of the funded activities might include:

  • Peer support groups
  • Sport and/or outdoor activities
  • Arts and music
  • Mentoring
  • Therapeutic support
  • Information and signposting
  • Discussion groups
  • Youth groups
  • Family activity programmes

Examples of spending that are eligible to be covered by the grant:

  • Venue hire
  • Worker/ Facilitator time
  • Interpretation costs
  • Transport costs
  • Childcare costs
  • Equipment
  • Sustaining existing projects that meet the Connect Together criteria

Given the short time frames for application and delivery of activity, we encourage applications to be from groups and organisations that are already delivering projects which meet the above objectives, or from those that can adapt or extend their current work to fit the criteria.

To apply:

The fund is very flexible and you are advised to discuss your application with Gayle.
