Who are we?
We are Deaf Experience (DEX) – a deaf-led charity passionate about creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and amplifying the voices of Deaf children and young people.

Founded in 1994, we exist because Deaf young people deserve spaces where they belong, thrive, and lead.

What do we do?
We deliver youth clubs, projects, trips, training, advocacy and wellbeing support – all designed with deaf young people, not just for them.

From social events and residentials to leadership training and cultural projects, we create safe, inclusive spaces where deaf young people can:

✨ Make lasting friendships
✨ Connect with Deaf role models
✨ Celebrate Deaf identity and BSL

We also support families, schools and partners to better understand and meet the needs of Deaf young people.

Who are we for?
We support deaf children and young people aged 11–30 across Yorkshire – especially those in mainstream education who may feel isolated in a hearing world.

If you’re deaf, hard of hearing, or use BSL – DEX is your space.

If you’re a parent, carer, professional or organisation wanting to make a difference – we’d love to connect.

Why it matters
Too many deaf young people grow up without accessible spaces, positive deaf role models or opportunities to lead. We’re here to change that.
