Dreams Come True, a charity which supports children with serious or life limiting medical conditions from disadvantaged communities, by making their dream come true.
We want to expand our service offer in in the North of England. We have recently re-opened our referral portal to offer dreams to critically ill children and their families, later in the year we will also be offering community dreams for the organisations that support them.
Here is further information about our offer and how to make a referral.
We fulfil different types of dreams for UK Holidays, Experience Days, Equipment and Bedroom Makeovers. We’ve previously provided sensory toys, adapted trikes, laptops, or games consoles, to holidays to Legoland, Peppa Pig World or Harry Potter Studios, to VIP experiences at football matches and uniquely themed bedroom makeovers. The list goes on and most importantly they are all individual.
We accept referrals from education, medical and healthcare, or social care professionals, and have recently changed our focus to support families that live in the top 30% of deprived areas of the UK and are the only wish granting charity with this focus. To match our criteria, the children or young person must:
- Be aged between 5-18 at the time of referral.
- Living with a serious or life-limiting medical condition.
- Should not have had a dream or wish experience with us, or any other charity, previously.
- Live in the UK’s most deprived and disadvantaged regions of the UK – defined as Tier 1 – 3 Lower Layer Super Output Areas (LSOA’s).
We cover a wide range of medical conditions with examples including: (please bear in mind that this short list here is by no means exhaustive).
- Cancer treatment
- Severe autism, learning difficulties or global developmental delay
- Heart, lung, bowel, and kidney conditions
- Degenerative neurological disorders or brain damage
