Circular Fashion Incubator and Leeds Beckett University present The Corset Revival Project, an exhibition and fashion show celebrating sustainable fashion, creativity, and charity, at the university’s Knowledge Exchange, Rose Bowl, on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th March.

The project will showcase over 100 abandoned corsets, rescued from landfill, and transformed by artists from the UK, Ireland, Eastern Europe, the USA, and Pakistan. Each designer was selected for their distinctive style and creative approach, resulting in a collection that is both a visual journey and a celebration of individuality. Using only reclaimed, discarded, or surplus materials, the artists have given these historic garments new life for modern audiences.

Fashion is constantly evolving, yet millions of garments are discarded each year, often ending up in landfill. The Corset Revival Project highlights this urgent issue while showing how creativity and circular practices can rework old pieces into contemporary designs, proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand.

The exhibition is part of the International Circular Fashion Week Conference, which brings together designers, researchers, and innovators exploring sustainable fashion practices worldwide. In addition, the Corset Revival Project – the culmination of work started in August – will go on a European tour, including at the Budapest Global Sustainability Fashion Week.

This project is headed by Andrea Benahmed-Djilali of the Circular Fashion Incubator and Doctor Esther Pugh, Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, with support from Leeds Beckett University students.

Fashionable and future-oriented whilst also circular and charitable, the Corset Revival Project is both dynamic and value-driven.
