Health and care career programme

Added: 14/03/2022

Lighthouse Futures Trust

The Healthier Working Futures programme is looking to work with young adults, aged 16-25, who are interested in exploring a career in health and care – this could be through training, work experience or paid employment. With several hundred current vacancies, this sector is one of the fastest-growing in Leeds, and one which provides an excellent career path for young people.

Healthier Working Futures provides a joined-up pathway from engagement, through job readiness and coaching to employment opportunities. A range of third sector groups have been appointed to provide 1-1 support to young people, including Lighthouse Futures Trust, Unity Housing Association; Barca, Barnardos, Learning Partnerships, Health for All and Smart Works Leeds.

To ensure that young people in our communities are aware of this programme and how to access support, we need your help. You can assist us in the following ways:

  •  Share the registration form. If you know any young people who could be interested in joining the programme, ask them to fill out the form at the following link and one of our advisors will be in touch to speak to them about potential opportunities. Alternatively, we would be very grateful if you could share the registration link with your audiences via bulletins, social media etc. if you can. Leeds Health and Care Careers Registration Form Tickets | Eventbrite
  • Host an engagement event. The East Leeds Project, one of the delivery partners, are hosting community events via their mobile arts and creative space – KIOSK. The 2-3 hour creative workshops will be led by Leeds-based artists, andaim to help young people find out more about the job opportunities available, and sign up for employment support and training. We are looking for community spaces visited by people aged 16-25 to host KIOSK events. If you would like more details, email Kerry at info@eastleedsproject.org

If you are an organisation that supports eligible young people, and would like to find out how you can get involved in the programme, please email sally-anne@lighthousefuturestrust.org.uk.  If you have any general questions about Healthier Working Futures, please contact leeds.crf@nhs.net.
