An update from Leeds City Council detailing local plans and a timetable of events for the remainder of the National Mourning Period

  • Book of Condolence for Her Majesty The Queen remains available to sign at Leeds Civic Hall, until 6pm on Tuesday 20 September. The council’s online book of condolence will also be open until 6pm on Tuesday.
  • The City’s Multi-Faith Vigil is at 6pm on Sunday 18 September on the steps of Civic Hall, with the public invited to attend, and speakers from a range of faiths, leading to a one-minute silence ahead of the National Moment of Reflection later that evening.
  •  The Big Screen on Millennium Square will show live coverage of the State Funeral.
  • For the Bank Holiday the bulk of public services in the city are operating as a regular Bank Holiday, with critical services continuing.
  • Many retailers are expected to be closed, but some shopping centres will remain operational. Kirkgate Market and the Merrion Centre will be closed. WY Metro transport will be running to an amended timetable.
  • Flags will be raised to full mast at 8am on Tuesday 20 September in-line with guidance.

Voluntary Action Leeds and the Volunteer Centre will be closed on Monday 19 September.
