Young people are bursting with ideas to make their lives happier and healthier.
The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, has launched the big ideas challenge to harness the incredible potential of the region’s 16 to 26-year-olds.
A large group of young people will meet new people, and together:
- Identify problems they care about
- Learn how to use research and design to develop potential solutions
- Be guided to pitch their ideas confidently.
The programme is completely free to attend.
Prizes
Every team or individual who completes the programme gets a £100 voucher. Ideas are assessed against three additional criteria, with the chance to win extra prizes worth up to £625.
Who can take part
There are 35 spaces, for one person or a team of up to three people. Based on the oldest person, each team will be placed into one of the three age groups:
- 16 to 18 years
- 19 to 21 years
- 22 to 26 years
Applicants who don’t secure a space are still invited to the first session, to learn core techniques for developing ideas.
Accessibility and inclusion
So all young people feel welcome, they can:
- Bring a trusted person for support
- Opt-out of any activity
- Go to the quiet spaces at in-person sessions if they are overwhelmed
We are developing more ways to make the sessions accessible and inclusive. We will keep publishing updates at URL.
