Mencap engagement meetings – how can we help those from Black and Asian communities?
Added: 29/07/2021
Royal Mencap Society
Mencap want to work in partnership with under-represented groups, particularly those from Black and Asian communities, to ensure their voices are heard and they are empowered and enabled to choose for themselves.
Mencap works for people with a learning disability and their families. Equity is key priority in our corporate strategy and we aim to achieve positive outcomes for everyone, so people can live happier and healthier regardless of their backgrounds.
We would like to talk to organisations who represent people with learning disabilities from black and Asian communities and/or their families to find out how best we can connect and engage with their service users/customers so we can understand;
- What support they are able to access or not
- Whether the support meets their needs,
- what barriers they have experienced in accessing appropriate support and resources
- what else they would like And
- How Mencap can help/support them to access these.
