Opportunity to apply for the Play Enabling Grant 2021-22

Added: 11/03/2021

Child Friendly Leeds

Leeds City Council Children and Families Service is excited to announce that the allocation process and opportunity to apply for the 2021/22 Play Enabling Grant is now open for providers that currently deliver, or have an interest in delivering meaningful and sustainable Play projects and activities for children and young people in Leeds, aged 5-13 years.

In striving to become a Child Friendly City, we recognise and value the importance of Play as a vital experience for children and young people. We know that Play is a way of bringing communities together, creating opportunities, overcoming barriers and most importantly enabling children to have fun growing up, a fundamental outcome outlined in the Children and Young People’s Plan 2018-23.

We are looking for creative, reliable and dynamic organisations to deliver inclusive, accessible, exciting and diverse play opportunities across the city, and we remain committed to supporting the development of these opportunities.

You can read more about the Leeds Commitment to Children’s Play here.

Key information and criteria

Child Friendly Leeds is focused on supporting, championing and enabling a varied Play offer in all areas of the city and therefore ALL applications will be considered by the panel. Please note however that funding is limited so we will be unable to fund all projects.

The maximum grant available per organisation will be £5000. Your organisation must be from the voluntary or community sector.

The following priorities for awarding the grants have been identified:

Highest priority

Grants will be prioritised where applicants have evidenced a local need for the play provision and/or where play provision may be limited;

We encourage applications from providers who have worked with Scope and gained their ‘Inclusive Activity Award’ or are working towards this.

Other considerations

We encourage organisations to demonstrate effectiveness and sustainability of their provision;

Your project may also be assessed against the current Covid guidance on safely returning to the Play activity/project you provide (if this is required at the time of proposed delivery).

If you would like to apply for a grant, please ensure you are registered on the Breeze Culture Network before applying.

You can read more detail about the criteria and eligibility in the PEG supporting guidance document, including information about what the grant is unable to fund. The PEG application form can be accessed here.

The deadline for applications is 12.00pm, Monday 19 April 2021.

Please return a completed and signed copy of the application form and supporting documents to:
