Grants of £20,000 for small charities and £2,000 for not-for-profit groups supporting vulnerable people for a wider range of new or expanded community projects. 19/8/20 deadline.

Grassroots organisations, local charities and non-profit community businesses that are seeking to effect positive change within their local area can take the first step in the application process by submitting an online expression of interest. The funding is for new projects, or significant expansions of existing projects. The projects can be up to 12 months in length. Projects can be considered by one of 4 funds operated by the Peoples Postcode Lottery (you can only apply to one of the 4 funds):

People’s Postcode Trust focusing on:

  • Promoting human rights.
  • Combatting discrimination.
  • Preventing poverty

Postcode Local Trust focusing on:

  • improving biodiversity and green spaces
  • combating climate change
  • increasing community access to outdoor spaces

Postcode Community Trust focusing on:

  • Improving health and well being
  • reducing isolation
  • increasing participation in arts and physical recreation

Postcode Neighbourhood Trust focusing on organisations affected by COVID-19 under the themes:

  • Supporting your organisations resilience (can fund core costs, development, volunteer expenses and staff training and support)
  • Adapting or expanding services to meet new challenges (adapt deliver e.g. digitally; respond to increase in domestic violence, carer’s needs; create new community spaces)

It is likely that projects will be able to relate to multiple themes, and applicants should choose the theme that is most closely related to the intended outcome of their project. Grants range from £500 to £20,000. Only registered charities can apply for grants of up to £20,000. Small groups with a constitution not formally registered can apply for £500 to £2,000.

There is a two-stage application process. Stage 1 applications – brief and easy expression of interest form will be accepted from 4 August to 19 August 2020.
