Public consultation event: Cancer Rule Out Test
Pinpoint Data Science Ltd has designed a tool to help speed up the cancer diagnosis process. We’d like to invite you to attend a presentation and discussion about a new blood testing proposal.
Currently, if you doctor thinks you might have cancer, they will refer you for urgent investigation at the hospital, which might take a couple of weeks. Over 90% of people referred for investigations don’t have cancer, but spend time worrying that they do. In collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Pinpoint Data Science Ltd has designed a tool to help with this.
With a blood test and computers, it is possible to let some of these people know that they don’t have cancer in just a few days, giving them peace of mind and allowing doctors to investigate the rest faster. This is an exciting new approach but it’s really important to make sure that this technology benefits patients as much as possible, so we need you to be involved in making sure it does.
We’d like to invite you to attend a brief presentation about the test followed by discussions with you to understand how people feel about it and how to best communicate about results.
*Travel expenses will be paid and you will receive a thank you voucher for attending*
The meeting is open to anyone, however if you have ever been investigated for or diagnosed with cancer, it would be particularly great to have you there.
There will be two meetings/consultations:
