Speaker Call-Out: Building a Culture of Care & Proactively Supporting Staff Wellbeing

Added: 28/05/2025

Voluntary Action Leeds

The Compassionate Leeds Programme Team’s next Community of Practice in June is focused on building stronger, more caring workplace cultures — and we’re looking for inspiring speakers who are walking the talk to take part in our Campfire Stories. An informal 5-10 minutes of sharing your experiences and reflections.

This isn’t just about waiting for a crisis or relying on policies alone. It’s about the small, intentional actions that shape how we show up for each other every day.

It’s about creating cultures where wellbeing is woven into the fabric of our teams — not just a response when things go wrong.

We want to hear from you if you’re doing things like (but not limited to!):
💬 Embedding wellbeing into induction, supervision or team meetings
🌱 Using Wellness Action Plans (WAPs)
📞 Having a go-to way your team reaches out for support
👋 Thinking about how people leave an organisation – do you have a specific process in place?

Whether you’re a manager or frontline practitioner — if you’ve found ways to proactively support wellbeing and build a caring culture, we’d love to hear your story. You may also have had a positive experience of being part of a caring culture and what that has meant for you.

We want those who attend to have something tangible to take away, regardless of where they work or their role.

👉 If you’re interested in speaking or want to nominate someone, please email sally.drinkwater@leeds.gov.uk
