We recently partnered with Pro Bono Economics, Nottingham Trent University and other infrastructure organisations to re-start a ‘State of the Sector Survey’ in November 2022.

The first set of results has now been released. The headline findings suggest that half of charities and community groups expect demand for services to exceed capacity this winter, with 20% expecting to fall significantly short in the ability to meet demand. 36% of charities and community groups struggle to recruit staff and 41% are forced to cut services. You can read a summary and download the full report here.

The survey also looked at energy costs for the sector, reporting significant rises for many, particularly energy intensive users, with 55% of charities using their reserves to meet current operating costs. You can read more on this here.

You can use this PowerPoint presentation to share the findings with your networks. There is also a dashboard where you can explore the data in more depth.

This is the first in a series of surveys, the next will take place within this quarter.
