Stop and Search Survey – West Yorkshire Police
Added: 12/10/2023
West Yorkshire Police
West Yorkshire Police have recently launched a stop and search survey, available to everyone who comes into contact with the Police under stop and search powers.
The aim of the survey is to find out more about people’s experience of stop and search powers when they have been the subject of a stop and search encounter.

Stop and Search Feedback Form | West Yorkshire Police
This opportunity to provide feedback about a personal experience of a stop and search encounter will allow West Yorkshire Police to better understand individual thoughts, perceptions and feelings relating to the stop and search encounter, as well as the wider use of stop and search.
A police officer conducting a stop and search must offer the individual being stopped and searched a receipt or reference number. This allows the individual to then obtain a written record within three months of the date of the search.
Included on the receipt is a QR code and web address, which will direct the individual to an online survey. The form can be accessed and completed via mobile phone or computer.
QR code stickers, which will be located on an officer’s mobile handheld device, are also due to be rolled out Force-wide in the coming weeks. Any person who is stopped and searched will also be able to access the stop and search survey via scanning this QR code sticker.
West Yorkshire Police is committed to providing a service which responds professionally and appropriately to the needs of our communities.
We would actively encourage feedback from all individuals who personally experience a stop and search encounter. This feedback is important to us and will allow us to continue to make improvements and adopt good practice
