Suicide Prevention Grants now open for applications

Leeds Community Foundation

Suicide Prevention Grants is a partnership between Leeds Community Foundation and Public Health, which aims to fund local community initiatives aimed at people at risk of suicide. The fund will support social activities determined by local participants and to provide outreach work with targeted communities in order to reduce social isolation and promote protective factors for wellbeing.

Key information 

  • We actively welcome more applications from, or benefitting, people under-represented in our grant making, for example LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, d/Deaf or disabled people
  • Previous grant recipients can apply if their end of grant report has been submitted by the time the grants are awarded (June 2025)
  • Applicants should address risk factors for suicide or work targeted towards population groups at risk of suicide
  • Applicants should evidence the need for their projects using:
  • The amount requested should be at least 50% of the total cost of the activity
  • Only one application per organisation can be considered

 

Small grants

Examples of activity that can be funded

  • Addressing the risk factors highlighted in the Leeds Suicide Audit (2019-2021) and/or Leeds Suicide Action Plan
  • Developing social activities determined by local participants themselves in areas with fewer activities, or providing outreach work with targeted communities in order to reduce social isolation
  • Pilot projects to test and develop innovative work

Grant Size: Up to £10,000
Location: Leeds
Duration: Up to 12 months
Deadline: 28/04/2025 at 12 noon
Decisions: June 2025

Large grants

Examples of activity that can be funded

  • Addressing the risk factors highlighted in the Leeds Suicide Audit (2019-2021) and/or Leeds Suicide Action Plan
  • Developing social activities determined by local participants themselves in areas with fewer activities, or providing outreach work with targeted communities in order to reduce social isolation
  • Capacity building to help emerging groups develop
  • Widening access to local services that reduce the risk of suicide

 

Grant Size: £10,000 to £25,000
Location: Leeds
Duration: 12 months to 24 months
Deadline: 28/04/2025 at 12 noon
Decisions: June 2025
