In March, the Government announced that it had signed off on a devolution deal for West Yorkshire. A formal consultation is currently underway, on arrangements for an elected ‘metro’ Mayor and on priorities for future investment.

TSL has just submitted its response (included below), in which it supports West Yorkshire devolution, but argues that our sub-region should not miss the opportunity to:

• establish new approaches to democratic participation that engages our communities
• puts community wealth building at the heart of our economic strategy

The TSL response also makes a number of specific proposals for the involvement of the third sector, such as establishing an investment fund worth £1.8 million per year for 30 years to enable the third sector to support community led economies.
