Leeds City Council’s, Leeds Prevent Safer Stronger Communities Team are offering a Virtual Antisemitism Training opportunity.
Antisemitism is hatred, prejudice, or discrimination against Jews. This is free training available for colleagues and partners of the Prevent Team delivered by a guest speaker from the Community Security Trust. This virtual workshop lasts for one hour.
This course will focus on the following:
- What is antisemitism and how common is it in the UK?
- Understanding antisemitic ‘tropes’ (figures of speech) – how to identify these and how to challenge them with young people.
- Understanding of how antisemitism is nuanced and often codified in everyday speech.
- Support with reporting antisemitism concerns in schools.
- Information on the Jewish community in the Leeds area.
- Provision of classroom friendly resources for one to one and group discussions about antisemitism.
Outcomes: To inform knowledge and understanding of antisemitism and what the local antisemitic profile looks like in Leeds with a focus on young people.
